Default Engine Swap for new build

I finally got home from Iraq. I am looking into a major overhaul from the engine being sleeved, a new turbo setup and the Inline pro diff setup. I want 500-600hp.
My car is currently turbo charged running a custom turbo setup at only 5 psi so I have about 75-100hp over stock now.

I am thinking of buying a FC22 or another FC20 motor for my car. I will send it out to Laskey or Inline Pro to be sleeved. I want another engine to build so I don't have to have my car down for 3 months or so, while all the parts are being ordered and built. I have other cars available to drive but after being away for 18 months I just miss driving my S2000.

What are some good companies that sell used engines? What should I expect to pay? Are there any issues that might come up with using the FC22 with my AP1 Trans or should I get a whole engine and trans setup?

What are your guys thoughts and opinions? Funny thing is I've had a good year to think about this but I am still confused as to what setup to go with.

For turbo setup I am leaning towards the full-race manifold with a GT35 turbo, but I do like Inline Pro's setup do to reliabilty I see from them.

other notes
I have an AEM engine mangement system, my car has 47K miles

Congrats on returning from Iraq, where were you stationed @ over there and what unit? Don't mean to threadjack or get off topic, but I returned back in April, so its always good to hear of more returning.

This time I was called up off IRR status and attached to HHT 167th CAV RSTA, there from Nebraska. We fell under the 34th BCT out of Minnesota. I was deployed for 18 months with 15 in IRAQ. I was stationed in Balad.

No real issue with the AP2 block and AP1 tranny but if you find an AP2 tranny might as well pick it up. It's a bit stronger. You will have to modify the output shaft.

If you're planning to sleeve then you want a block with scored cylinders and should expect to pay between $200 and $500. Not much point paying $2K for a good block and then boring the cylinders out.

So if I mismatch an AP1 Engine with an AP2 tranny or vice versa I will need to modify the input shaft.

How do you go about modifying an input shaft?

Thanks for your help AusS2000

No, the AP2 driveshaft coupling is different so if you install and AP2 tranny in an AP1 you have to modify the tranny's output shaft.

I'm not sure of the details but I thin you use the output shaft from the AP1 tranny.

I must have misread input and output shaft. sorry.

So if I get an AP2 drive shaft too, then I wouldn't need any modifications done to the output shaft. I will also be getting the inline pro differential setup.

LOL, usually you'd just move the problem further down the car and have to replace the diff coupling but if as you say you're getting a IP Diff then just let them know it's an AP2 coupling.

if you want a build, why not just buy the inlinepro built block?

Do they have core blocks that they can build and sell to me?
