Default Enough with the AEM EMS takes long to crank!

I'm all about going different routes and having competition between different manufactors and products however what I do not support is the spreading of lies between products.

This is probably one lie / misconception that is brought up everytime as a "downside" about the AEM EMS when, in truth, its nothing at all to be concerned of; the misconception that the AEM EMS takes much longer to start compared to a piggyback / stock ECU setup. To prove that, I made a quick video showing it takes no longer then a 1/2 second more to start via the AEM EMS vs. a stock ECU.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwbBB3iGLAw

From now on, lets leave out the "The AEM EMS takes forever to start compared to stock ecu / piggyback setup" because its simply not true.

1 misconception down, a million more to go, stay tuned

if tuned and set up correctly, the aem can start just as quickly as a stock ecu car...

i had a supercharger setup on an aem, then a turbo setup... with cold start and hot starts worked out much better on the turbo... it was a night and day difference... its all in the tune...

Yes, I used the term "butt hurt" the other day as in I didn't get why people got "butt hurt" over the AEM taking so long to start. Mine takes about that long as well, and I'm running 1000cc injectors.

Besides, what is wrong with a few more cranks to build up oil pressure anyway throughout the whole system and minimize internal engine wear?

That was a cold start, it'd be a fraction of a second faster if it was warm

As if you can really tell the difference between .25 seconds and maybe .75 seconds.

And even if you could, if thats the reason holding you back from buying an AEM EMS, good; us AEM EMS owners / club members don't want you in our club...we'll take our .75 second cranking time and go somewhere else

I agree that it has been blown out of proportion. The cars can start better than many stock cars do with a properly tuned EMS. (This takes more than a simple dyno session to achieve- it may take a few cold starts, warm starts, and hot starts)

One thing that helps:

Turn the key to on. Let the car sit and prime for a second or two. Now push the start button. The AEM EMS will start virtually as quickly as stock. It's only when I turn the key on and instantly reach for the start button that I notice a bit of a delay.
