Default Exhaust Recommendations

Hello,

I am seriously considering going with a Inline Pro turbo setup. My goal however (minus the obvious Front Mount) is to remain as quiet and stealthy as possible.

I know in order to make any decent power I need to replace the factory exhaust system. The question is, with what that will a) still preferably allow me to hear the motor over the exhaust and b) will not completely destroy the stock look.

If I had to weigh the 2, then it's 75% sound and 25% looks. Sound levels are much more important to me.

With this in mind, can anyone give their recommendations on the best combination of the above + free flowing?

Thanks!

Inline is working on a 3" dual that should combine the best of both worlds, the capacity to flow large amounts of air without restriction and dual mufflers to help suppress sound. It will certainly be louder than many of the other (and smaller) dual options out there.

Personally, I run an HKS Hi-Power exhaust that is HIGHLY restrictive for a turbo setup, but it is very quiet. Maybe 5% louder than stock. I hear more engine and turbo noise than exhaust noise. In fact, I can't even hear the exhaust inside the car. Pre-turbo, the exhaust did sound a lot better but its understandable as it was designed for N/A, not F/I.

my car makes 384whp on a stock exhaust.

The intercooler is painted black as well. You only know its not stock when the turbo starts to spool and the wastegate opens...

i want to make more power though, so 3inch will be coming soon. I am in the same boat as you, and want to keep the sound a bit quiter than my S/C T1R 63mm setup was before...

That ATP virtual exhaust is interesting! Though, it would hardly fall under the category of quiet under boost

I've been looking around - what's really bothersome is that it seems like there are two categories for exhausts on the s2000: the smaller diameter like Apexi World Sport, Comptech, HKS Hi-Power, etc which generally seem to run in the 2.25-2.3" range. And then it moves right into much large exhausts like IP's, Ultimate Racing, etc

I'm actually impressed to hear 384WHP on the stock exhaust.

Though, I still don't see any middle of the road answer!

I talked to Ya today at IP - he mentioned because I have an AP2, compared to an AP1 with the same kit, exhaust etc, the AP1 will make more power. So I have this to consider.

Grr!

how about a custom. You can get quieter mufflers, tips of your choice and pipe size of your choice. Usually it will be cheaper than buying and off the shelf system. Why not talk to Ya about what specs in an exhaust would flow enough that you don't lose much top end power, but still be fairly quiet? If I go turbo, I want to stay stealthy too...black anodized IC, route the wastegate back into the exhaust etc.

Comptech, HKS, all of the smaller diameter duals are almost as restrictive or more so than the stock setup. I'm squeezing 405 rwhp out of a "stock sized" exhaust. Kleecker was able to get 425 out of the same exhaust with a slightly larger turbo. The downside is that all of that extra restriction causes a LOT more backpressure, resulting in longer spool times and the need for higher boost pressures.

Ok, that is good to know that SlimJim.

I'm REALLY curious on the Ultimate Racing exhaust. A dual setup which has the same tips as the stock AP2 and from what UR is telling, it's not overly loud.
