Exhuast For an Inline Pro Kit
I am trying to figure out what to do with the exhaust with my new IP kit. I have come up with a few options but I am still not sure. I want the car to be quiet, and I am having a hard time getting rid of the factory setup. My goals for the kit of 500-550 RWHP with a fully ported head with stock sized valves, 9.5:1 estimated compression ratio, ported IP log, Ported intake, factory TB and EMS. So all that is left is the exhaust which may be my limiting factor.
(1) Use the factory system and remove the resonator in hopes for improved flow.
(2) Buy a "Quiet" aftermarket system and add a resonator
The IP DP is 3" so I would prefer 3" Intermediate Pipe with (2) 2.5" mufflers
Here is the current build

i have the stock exhaust and a 70mm test pipe and it definately is quiet but I can feel the air flow restriction up top. I am also looking into doing a 3" turbo back as well but want it quiet I am going to build my own and maybe add a resonator on top of the muffler to see if that helps
I had the stock exhaust with the resenator removed and it didnt seem to change anything as the mufflers are the biggest choke point.
Right now i'm running the Greddy 70 single but am "upgrading" to a full 3" downpipe back exhaust.
You may want to check into the ultimateracing exhaust Scott. They have dual 3" also.

I was looking at the Asura, IP, Ultamite Racing, Comptech, Borla and others but every system I have heard on the S is super loud. The only systems I have heard to date are the normal N/A (Magnaflow, Invidia, Greddy....) not the freeflowing sytems above. I just installed a Greddy turbo kit on a freinds car recently and he has the 70MM Dual Invidia and for me it is VERY load. I don't want to hear the exhust in the car unless I go WOT, or at least only 1 or 2 db louder than the factory under normal driving. I am very critical about, noise, rattles, tires, exhaust, engine....... and I have dyonmatted nearly the entire car to help with this.
I might be a lost cause but I am willing to try. Thanks for the input

camuman has the asura 3" dual with a resonated test pipe. the tone is awesome it's just a tad loud but he's supercharged, being turbo the same setup on your car would be much quieter and then it would be perfect. most likely I'll be getting the same setup he's got if I don't go with something custom.

From my experience, I would run nothing smaller than a 3" otherwise you are doing yourself a dis-service. Decreased flow coupled with slower spool.
If you want to keep it "quiet" run a resonator, they are straight through and help w/the droning. I get mine from summitracing.com and they are like 20-30 bucks.
I'm unsure on the mufflers I want, but with the piping I have already bought 3" mandrel from the downpipe back I will have less than 400 bucks in the whole thing.
