I thought the OEM roll bars made the S2000 legal to 11.5 and that you'd need a 6pt to be faster than that (legally)?

I'm pretty sure you're correct. Also, bolt in (6pt) bars are likely to be rejected (running sub 11.5 sec).

The tech guy may have been misinformed about S2000s...

I made tons of high 11/low 12 second passes at my local track and no one said anything to me... though I'm not sure they really care. I've had a lot of people tell me the car is legal until 11.5 though.

Maybe it depends on hardtop vs soft top though?

I'm sure one of the drag racing gurus will chime in and settle this once and for all.

My opinion. Track inspection for test and tune doesn't scrutinize too much. So if a vert s2k comes in with a hard top they figure oh hard top and judge car that way. Truth is that hard top does damn near nothing for safety lol.

Convertibles don't require a roll bar until 13.49 or faster. An NHRA roll bar will get you to 11.49 and with the addition of a hard top, you will be good to 10.00. Even though a hardtop may not be as safe in a rollover incident, NHRA has deemed them as a full bodied car when it is on.

The bolt in roll bars such as Hard Dog and Rockstar Garage will need to be modified to conform to NHRA rules, adding a door bar and a crossbar.

Here is a link to the general regulations for all classes Click. Roll bars and cages start at section 4.10

i know the hard dog is only good to 11.5, but i cant spend 3k on a roll cage until i get the V160. I want the hard dog now so i have better roll ober protection, but more so i can get a raxing seat and Legit 5 point harness in case i hit something
