Default Finally happy again...

So I am one of the guys that went the Greddy turbo kit and had a bad experience. I had the cast manifold version and it cracked. My turbo seals started going out as well. I am probably sure that it was more a tuner problem then anything, as it had intermittent problems with driveability. I swapped the turbo, manifold and downpipe to an Inline Pro setup with a 5965E journal bearing turbo. It still had issues with running really bad sometimes. So I decided to take it to a recommended shop near me, Slowmotion Motorsports out of Sunbury Ohio. They installed an AEM EMS Series 2, SOS 3 bar map sensor and ID 1000's (They were the same price as the ID725's). The car runs smooth as butter and strong like ox!!! I am running 11psi on a stock block and clutch.

glad ur happy with your set up now, I tell anyone going turbo to stay away from the greddy kit, just not worth the money in my opinion when theres so many better turbo options out there, anyone looking for that power range should just get a super charger

I know Corey personally. I've been having him tune my car now for the past 7+ yrs. I'll be going back this time around as well.

Great shop.

I tell everyone that wants to upgrade the greedy kit to get a new manifold like the inline pro (best) or rev hard (ok) and a better turbo like a gt30 5857. You can make it a pretty good kit with those changes and a DP and you can find the stuff used now pretty cheap.

Good to see you had nice results, not sure how good the intercooler is above 400 but its probably just find if you don't beet on it on real hot days.

Congrats! Yeah unfortunately turbocharging is just one of those things you have to spend money to do it right. Ah well ya live and learn, I went through the same thing.

Yeah, I was really impressed with those guys at Slowmotion. They knew their stuff and found some things wrong that I would have never thought about. Corey showed me a manifold that he made for a guy out in West Virginia that is bad ass. It was a sidewinder top mount that was a 2 piece V-band design. I plan to build the motor this winter and probably have him fab me up a new setup next year. I am only concerned with opening other cans of worms when upping the power. I.E. Diff, tranny, fuel system....

haha, small world. That was mine. I just got it in the mail 2 days ago, lol. I went down to the shop in January and him and I spent some time planning out how I wanted it built. Forward facing, no need to relocate my oil filter, and how I wanted my downpipe to fit/etc. I think it turned out nice myself. If you watch teh forums over the next month or 2, I'll be posting up info/etc on how my car does. Haven't posted much this time around. 700whp setups are pretty common place anymore it seems around here.

Nice setup, I hear more and more ppl swapping Greddy parts for more reliable parts. Here in Holland ppl are trying out the Greddy's as well, have to wait and see what the outcome is.
I'm of the opinion that if you go turbo, do it well. And getting a good tuner is definately as important as getting reliable parts.

for safe 11psi on a stock block. You'll probably need a new clutch sometime but that depends on your driving style.

Yeah, I will definitely get a new clutch when it starts slipping. I am just trying to enjoy it, since it sat for over a year. If I were to do it all over again, I would definitely do things different. My problem was the fact that when I went turbo, it was my daily driver car.. So I wanted a turn-key setup. At that time there were no other kits that offered that. The Greddy kit was really restrictive when paired to the F series motors. I would probably opt for the Mase kit now days, as it is is a turn-key setup that really pairs well with our motors.

Hoepfully one day people will learn that the greddy kit is a waste. Looks like a good upgrade!
