Default AN Fittings

On my current build, I'm using AN6 lines and fittings to and from the fuel pressure regulator and to the fuel rail. Since I've never used these before for fuel, I'm currious as to how tight I should crank down on them? It wouldn't be fun if one came loose and sprayed fuel over a hot turbo.

I've always had luck with the "Just tight enough theory". Just make sure nothing leaks after the install.

What brand Russel,Earls or Aeroquip ?

If it's Earls is it Pro-lite,Perform-o-flex,or Auto-flex hose ?

If it's Russel is it Proflex,Prorace or Proclassic hose ?

If it's Aeroquip is it AQP,AQP Socketless,or PTFE

Each brand and subbrand of hose has fittings and procedures for install that are specific to the hose and it's appropriate coupling.

I'm not talking about making AN hoses, I'm asking how tight do you tighten the female AN hose fitting to the corresponding male AN fitting.

They don't need to be very tight to seal. Overtightening them will lead to cracking and is easy to do. I usually don't go more than 20-30* past with a wrench.

The sealing is all done between the cone on the swivel fitting and the flared adapter fittings. The AN wrenches that are out there are not very long and you won't be able to overtighten them, because the wrench doesn't give you enough leverage. As an added bonus the AN wrenches don't scratch the fittings like steel wrenches.

Thanks Slow. My concern was not the sealing on the connection, but of the nut coming loose and spewing fuel all over the place. I guess my worries come from my aviation background where all the AN fittings I saw were safety wired.

^ tape the end you are cutting tightly with electrical tape and then cut it in the middle of the tape.
