Fuel station solved.Drop in fuel plate.
Anybody get fuel starvation on left-hand corners or boosted under half a tank?
. I've designed a plate that easily drops inside the fuel tank covering the fuel bowl eliminating any fuel slosh which causes fuel starvation to your engine. 100% cheap fix. No need for expensive external loud pumps. Looks like a good idea for fuel slosh, although that's only half the problem. The refill slots at the bottom of the bowl, which is a major problem for big power guys aren't large enough to supply fuel fast enough to the fuel bowl if below a half a tank. The pumps draw too much fuel too fast.

I've thought about trying to get my tin snips in there and try to trim the slots out larger. I'd use a dremel and grinding tip but excess fumes and all..... LOL

This seems like a lot of work. Why not just get a surge tank?
|
Surely this is easier to do than a Surge tank?

I have a Radium surge tank which has two pumps (staged) mounted inside of it so you barely hear them except when priming. After my original response, I realized that you have to fold your piece to get it into that tank. Good luck.

also should be 20$ not several hundred for an external fuel pump

Well, you get what you pay for I guess. Okay, I'm done.

Whatever you're on can i have some please

I want some too, j/k. For the surge tank setup (Radium anyways), it would be more than hundreds. I think I spent at least $800, but that's with PTFE hose and fittings for feed and return lines. It's expensive, but well worth it in my opinion for my setup. I don't have any fuel starvation issues even WOT driving on near empty straight line or in the twisties. The plate would be a good cheap solution if it works as expected.

Call me crazy but I've found fuel starvation to be sensitive to suspension spring rate. I was using 10k springs on a set of Tein's and never had any fuel starve. Running on RE71R tires I almost ran out of fuel on the track / autocross and never had any starvation issues. I upgraded to some KW V3s with 8k springs, same alignment settings and same tires. I was fuel starving at the same track running the same lap times with anything less than 1/2 a tank of fuel. Same thing at autocross. With the 8k springs I was having to fill up the car multiple times a track day, and run at autocross on a full tank. After working through a number of other possible causes the only thing left was the change in spring rate. I got some stiffer 10.7k springs for the KW V3s and my fuel starve issues were gone. I'm now supercharged with 400 ish whp and had no fuel starve problems at the track. So long story short, the roll of the car has a dramatic impact on fuel impact as well as the tank design. Stickier tires will induce more roll.

I got my plate from Kitesurfer a while ago, fitment was spot on and very easy to install.
Just waiting for winter to pass then it will be track tested :) |

To be fair, he documented his plate over 3 years ago. So to say its exactly the same as yours seems a bit much.
Tuner at time said you need to stop the fuel jumping out the bowl .So in fact he gave me the idear because having loud external pumps was not a option. I'm 22psi gen 2 gtx3582r My exhaust is quieter than standard. My clutch is a hybrid friction one side 6 puck the other lighter than stock with stock drivability. Saving money for everyone was the main goal . The first plate I made by hand around 2011 kept getting in the way of the fuel float . I then got married and went through a terrible divorce .Car sitting for 4 years . 2016 Google started saving searches I was looking for a fuel tank to cut open which came up on eBay result . So in early 2017 I started selling hand made plate's and they are working win win :) . Unfortunately life gets in the way of your dreams but the S will always be with me. Sorry for the essay I've been off work for 7 weeks with a bad back and high on diazepam . |
[left]Turns out that Kitesurfer and I were lost twins separated at birth. This fuel plate cover idea brought us back together.
