i run the AEM serial guage. There isnt much room in the S2 and i like things as simple as possible, if i want to monitor something else it is as easy as a push of a button. It just looks clean in my opinion and doesnt really attract unwanted ricer attention.

No, i use mine to monitor engine temp. I am pretty sure there is nothing else needed. i had InlinePro install mine with the kit. It's really nice to be able to see temp now

The gauge will monitor the temperature based on the temperature calibration that was set in the AEM EMS. In short, it will work fine without the modifry fix.

To monitor things like oil pressure / egt / other sensors that do not come with our engine stock, you will need additional parts.

You will need to update the calibration for the coolant temp within the software. PM "timg", I think he has it lying around on some thread somewhere...

Even with this calibration, the OEM gauge will still not work. It will still serve as a warning once temps reach something like 220* (all bars will light up all of a sudden). You will be able to monitor the engine temp via the serial gauge, but the modifry fix I believe is required for the OEM dash gauge to work.

Its just like installing any other gauge

Granted, if you don't know how to install a gauge then it might be complicated only because its your first time.

Flip a switch in the AEM software, set your gauges in the serial gauge software, find na ignition hot wire, find a ground spot and plug the serial gauge into the serial port of the EMS. DUN

Right now I have mine configured to cycle through MPH, water temp, boost, AIT and AFR.

The nice thing about the gauge is it holds min and max values for each parameter and you can set it up to warn for certain conditions like over boost or lean conditions.
