Default GM boost solenoid

Would the GM boost solenoid be a better substitute for contolling the boost than an electronic boost controller. Would you be able to choose Hi/Lo boost setting easily or would u have to go into the AEM EMS to adjust? What would be the best boost controller to use with a turbo setup on AEM EMS?

I believe the GM is one of the better solenoids to use with the AEM. Plenty of others have used it so it's well trod territory. Slow is getting me one as we type.

The set up in the AEM looks pretty complex, but also very versatile. And I also believe you can use a switch input on the AEM to change between settings. So you hit a switch on the dash and your AEM switches to an alternate setting.

At least I hope this is correct.

I have the GM 3-way solenoid sitting on my bench just begging to go into my car. I'm just waiting for a head gasket to show up before I install it.

As Aus mentioned, it is rather complex to setup. However it is very versital. You can actually set three boost levels if you play your cards right. You set a high and low in the ems which you operate off a switch, then you add another switch to cut the power to the solenoid and run off the wastegate spring. Not to mention all the differant settings like TPS to boost, RPM to boost, and VSS to boost. I'll be playing with it soon and will post my results.

An EBC is a controller and solenoid. The 'control' is built into the AEM, you just have to purchase the solenoid and you have an EBC.

EBCs like the TurboSmart e-Boost2 are also a gauge and interface that allows you to change your presets on the fly. With the AEM you would set your presets with a laptop then switch between them with a dash board switch.

I really only need two settings, and I don't like gauges so there is no benefit to me to use something like this.

Ok, that's confusing. What is the GM BCS? If it's a boost controller isn't it made obselete by the AEM EMS?

Looking forward to hear more about this once you solve it out. I have the GM BS mounted in my engine bay, but not conected yet because it doesn't make much sense to run a high/low boost setting on a stock engine and 8psi max. boost.
Once I get used to 320whp, I will try the head gasket too...and I'm glad someone will try it before I do
