Default Which GM Map Sensor?

Hi,

Ive got the greddy kit and was boosting to 14psi on the Omni 4 bar map sensor. While going WOT, Omni was great and operated extremely well. However When cruising or light throttle, car was extremely rough due to the smaller window for tuning.

Decided to chuck the 4 bar and want to know what people recommend in regards to GM map sensors. Tossing up between 2 bar and 3 bar. I really only want to boost to 14-15 psi on stock compression and thinking maybe the the 2 bar would be the best choice , giving me the best resolution for tuning.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Mark

14.7 = 1 bar. 2 sounds like a good window.

You should be able to use a 7 bar map sensor and have good driveability.

The capacity of the map sensor is not your issue. Your tuner should be able to optimize your map for your specific needs regardless of the upper value on the map sensor

A lower pressure map sensor does provide greater resolution though correct?

Not really true.

Your resolution is determined by your fuel table load points. Those are set by your tuner. Yes, the map sensor gives you a greater range, but who is really running more that 30 psi here??? That is a 2 bar. A 3.5 Bar sensor offers ~52psi max.

So if your car is seeing no more that 29 psi, what benefit is there to a map sensor that offers greater resolution from 10 to 40 psi higher?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that if both sensors use a 5v reference, the LOWER pressure sensor would have better resolution.

This should help

How are you going to modify the signal to the ECM with the Emanage though?

Thanks everyone.

Im using the AEM EMS.

Numbers were very good, look for post greddy E85 for some numbers.

As I understand it, the 2 bar should give much more resolution compared to a 4 bar. Really I dont need to read higher than 14psi so the 2 bar should do the job. Im getting it installed tomorrow and will let everyone know how I go.
