Default Going from 5" to 4" vortech pulley

Thinking of going from the stock 5" vortech pulley to a 4" pulley to get 12.5 lbs boost.
I have installed thier stock V2 kit with piggyback computer, timing controller, FMU and fuel pump.
So injectors and everything else is stock. (1999 AP1).

If I go to a 4" pulley, will I need to upgrade injectors or or anything else?

Must be lots of folk who have been down this path before

You dont have a snowballs chance in hell in making the stock injectors flow enough fuel for that . You will need to upgrade youre engine management and fuel injectors to be able to meet the demands of 12 psi from a vortech kit . I just did the same thing last September and had to buy an aem ems and 725cc injectors and then pay for a good tune by a reputable tuner . It was quite pricey . It cost me around $2200.00 said and done . All the electronics and fmu will need to be removed as well . The finished product for me was just about 400 whp .

Going above about 320 rwhp is chancy with the factory injectors.

I suggest taking smaller steps as you upgrade for the final high boost you will be seeing. Pulleys are cheap. Get two or three sizes and work your way up in boost.
I used about a dozen different pulleys playing with my set up.
Going to a 4-1/2 inch pulley would be more reasonable and still pushing it without further upgrades.

You should probably not change anything until you get your EMS and injectors to be totally safe.

good stuff.

seems most people are using AEM EMS. I there just 1 type?

can u tell me more about yours? model etc

Same with injectors. What brand/ model are u running?

Lastly, does the car still drive well if u are just criusing around or do you loose some of that friendlyness?

Sorry for the machine gun questioning!

My setup is relatively simple . It consists of a vortech v2 aftercooled supercharger , an Asp 4 inch pulley , an aem ems 1052 , injector dynamics 725cc fuel injectors , and lastly a Sos 3 bar map sensor . All with a stock exhaust/cat combo . The car runs and drives completely like stock ! I must emphasize that a reputable tuner be used with the ems though as many on this board have found many so called tuners dont know squat about the aem systems and the cars have all sorts of drivability issues .
