Default Going FI this month - given this scenario

MY00 - ~30,800 miles
Comptech SC/AC
550cc RC injectors
AEM EMS

When the time comes to dyno this combo will the stock clutch disk and pressure plate be OK if it hasn't been romped on up until now? Is this more a friction disk issue or a pressure plate issue?

In other words while the patient's open would it be best to upgrade the clutch system or not?

If so, with what?

Thanks in advance.

It's a PP thing. If it's beginning to slip now, it will really slip once you start pushing more HP through it. Do the clutch upgrade now before the S/C goes on. If it's holding now, then run it for a year or so and then do the clutch. Apparently, it can be done with the blower on by tilting the engine back and not dropping the front, but I've got no personal experience with it.
I've got a clutch kit waiting to go onto my car, but I'm taking the blower off anyway to change the belt anyway, so I won't be testing that technique.

It's not slipping now. If you don't mind me asking, what are you planning for a replacement?

Raymo

I'm still a centerforce fan. They do a stage2 clutch that works great, soft on the street and grips like a centerforce when the revs build.

Hows your clutch holding up thus far and when do you expect to be changing it?

My clutch is still going pretty strong, but I notice sometimes when im at WOT and shift at redline, the RPMs fall the way they should but they hover there a few seconds before they start to build again.

Are these early signs of wear?

I was considering that, but I'd like to evaluate the state of my current clutch.

Im not sure if its beginning to wear and not grabbing as it should. Or if the clutch is still good to use, and wasnt meant to hold this kind of power.

I'm seeing about 6.45psi on a CTSC w/ AC making approx 169tq on a mustang dyno.

I was going to do it later this month but now I'm waiting to see if I can do a deal on an AP2 tranny. May as well put them all in at the same time.

What you describe is not a slipping clutch. A slipping clutch will not "hover" when you change gears. It will cause the rpm to suddenly take off without the car taking off. The rpm doesn't "hover". The road speed does. You're doing the wrong test for a slipping clutch.
