Technically most intercoolers with think of are aftercoolers. In the superchargers for the s2000, the aftercoolers are liquid to air heat exhangers that have a front mount radiator and the liquid to air intercooler between the charger and the throttle body. An " intercooler " has piping that goes down to a front mount air to air heat exhanger then up to the throttle body.

Yes in the world of turbo'ing and supercharging the s2000 that would be the meaning. The liquid is moved through the system using a pump to the front mount heat exhanger and then back to the cores in the charge pipe for an aftercooler. This eliminates the excess piping involved in an air/air intercooler.

Technically both of them are aftercoolers since the term intercooler was used for heat exchangers in between compressors on planes that had multiple superchargers/turbos. These are aftercoolers since they are after all compressors (the one that we have).
