Haltech PnP Connection Problem
Have any other Haltech users ever experienced connectivity issues when connecting to your laptop? I can start ECU Manager, plug in, turn the ignition to ON, and hit connect and it will connect. But as soon as I crank the engine it will lose the connection and I can't get it back. I have to restart the software and turn the car back off/on again. Sometimes I'll get lucky and it will stay connected when I crank the engine, but it will lose the connection as I'm driving pretty quickly. Anyone know what's up with this?
I have not experienced that, but I have only connected half a dozen times. So it sounds like engaging your starter interrupts the connection. In general, my SC setup runs the coolant pump and fan in my air to water IC, so I am almost always idling the car when I hookup or I drain battery fast.
Are you always using the same cable? I have one USB running from the Haltech under the carpet and coming out behind the seat. If you have something similar then it could just be a bad cable. The cable is the cheapest piece in the chain.

Yeah I'm the same... Routed the USB from the Haltech under the driver door trim so I just pop the door trim up and there's the cable. If I am connected, no amount of fiddling with the cable will cause it to disconnect. Also, no amount of fiddling with the cable will get it to reconnect after it has lost connection. I suspected the cable at first too, but it seems OK. I checked the connection of the cable to the ECU while I was at the tuner's and it was fine.
Hi Guys - Try swapping the USB cable for a different one. Its probably not a connection problem per se (so no amount of wiggle will cause/fix the problem) more likely the cable shielding isnt doing its job which is allowing electrical noise (maybe from the alternator/charging system) to cause issues. This sort of noise can crash the USB driver which is why you require the software restart to re-establish connection.
