Haltech tuning in the midwest?
Without question I would take it to King. Tim is a experienced tuner who doesnt tune for max HP. He is conservative and tunes to make engines last. I am currently at 406/259 on a 3.6in pulley. Driveability is fantastic as well. I have YEARS and THOUSANDS of dollars in tuning at King. Tell Scott I sent you! If you have any questions PM me. Toss the car on a tow dolley/trailer, and make a weekend out of it. The tune on the car is without a doubt, the single most important part of this entire picture. 6 hours is even do-able in a day if you had to. I'm just about 6hrs out from Evans and consider myself lucky to be so close. LJ at fullblown has a TON of experience with not only your platform being an s2000, but with the EMS as well. This is a no brainer in my book.

I towed my car 21 hours to get tuned by LJ, lol.
Damn. Now that's a drive. Hmmm....I may have to go to LJ as well.
I've emailed King Motorsports a few times, and they never reply. I even sent them a facebook message....and NADA...
FullBlown replied within 12 hours.
Beating a dead horse at this point, the choice is clear. Despite being somewhat removed from this community working on other projects lately, they still know these cars inside and out.
Instead of being passive with virtual communication. Try a traditional more professional way...call them.
Im not going to stand up for the lack of response on kings part but at least call them.

What year do you live in? Since when is "virtual" conversation not considered professional? I communicate with my customers "virtually" 98% of my day, and it is incredibly professional.
In this day and age, I'd expect to see this the other way around, email IS the now.
