Has anyone upgraded their Vortech V2 blower to the T trim?

Default Has anyone upgraded their Vortech V2 blower to the T trim?

I just got off the phone with Vortech as I am thinking of upgrading the V2 blower impeller to the T trim they offer. They said it wold be $1100 for a full rebuild plus the T trim upgrade. It spins to 56,000 I think they said so it is a big higher than the regular V2 blower.

Just wondering if anyone has done this upgrade before? If so were you able to tell the performance improvements from it? I definitely want to be able to spin it faster since I want to do some sort of a wastegate setup and run a much smaller pulley to improve the mid range.

There are several of us in So. Cal. that have done the t-trim upgrade. It increases the intake size.

It moves more air and is more efficient. I changed the bearings and spin mine to 62,000+ rpm. It has yet to go hot on me so I have not maxed it out yet.

The T-trim and Novi 1200 look so similar.... but differences, small they are

Vortech T-Trim

Max Speed: 55000 RPM Max Boost: 26 PSI Max Flow: 1200 CFM Max Power: 825 HP Peak Efficiency: 73% Performance specs apply to units equipped with heavy duty gearcase.

Dimensions
Discharge OD: 2.75" Inlet OD: 3.75" Discharge ID: 2.38" Inducer Diameter: 3.29"

Novi 1200

1016119 NOVI-1200 / Straight 52000RPM 22 1150cfm 775HP Paxton is alittle more stingy with details on their website

You are using the ceramic hybrid bearings correct? Where did you get them and who installed them? The blower doesnt get hot? Mine will burn your hand if you touch it... wonder if something is going bad on mine.

Yep the 1200 looks pretty close, but the 1500 appears to be the exact CFM spec as the T trim. We have gathered that the 1200 is more efficient up to the 1150cfm over the 1500 though, and therefore not sure how the T trim relates to that, if you have to spin it at full tilt to see any benefits and if the area under the curve suffers if you don’t.

Im alittle brain dead atm... I was tring to figure out what im spinning my 1200 to on an AP1 with a 4.2'' SoS pulley @9k rpm. Im tempted to upgrade to the ceramic hybrid bearings but not sure who has the best and most reputable shop for it. I was thinking of using Superchargerrebuilds.com but his page on NO WARRANTIES seems to be a red flag to me.

Ok nice! I think I will go this route. I want to run a 3" or so pulley on it to hopefully make 16-17 psi or so and the bleed off with the wastegate like another member on here did. Midrange is definitely where my car needs some extra power!
I would probably just use the bearings they will rebuild it with. 55,000 rpm's should allow me to go with a pretty small pulley. Even if I do overspin it slightly would only be for a couple hundred rpm's at most which I wouldn't regularly go to anyways.

Not to stray too far off topic here, but I'm planning on trading in my 1000 for the 1200 with Paxton this spring, as they will give me a good amount in credit on my old blower. Do you guys know off hand if they can, or do the upgraded bearings at that time? Would be great to just have them already on my new blower.

I just spoke to paxton, he told me they do not offer upgraded bearings but he did say that they used an ABEC-7 bearing kit standard on the Novi 1200. I went the upgrade route, cant remember what I paid but it was under 1k I believe for a shiny new Novi 1200.

I don’t know my bearings very well, so you upgraded from the 7's for under $1000? Are the 7's not very good? (maybe Sideways can chime in on that one as well with his experience)

Or are you saying you got a new 1200 for under a grand? I'm a little confused. That’s a hell of a deal you found if you got a new 1200 for less then a grand, that’s like half price from Paxton. Was that after your trade in credit?
