Thumbs up Head Gasket with LOVEFAB question

Dear All,

in a few weeks, my LOVEFAB kit will arrive (don't tel me down Cody )
and I would like to ask the FI guys 2 questions:

1.Can I slam in some 3mm head gasket to play it safe and still start tuning with the base map that comes for a stock compression ratio or do I need to "create" a fully new map since the gasket will lower the comp. ratio? What is a good gasket to go for?
2.Is it better to tune in cold temperatures since the air is more dense and once it gets warmer the engine will run just rich (safe) or the other way around? Do you guys retune for summer and winter? We have 55c during a summer day and 10c during a winter night here and I'm afraid I will run to lean once it gets colder if I tune now, since the ait will get denser=more air in the A/F mixture.

Looking forward to hear some good ideas, thanx

Jakub, youll definately want to re-tune it all before you boost; mainly because lifting the head 3mm from the block changes the timing. The basemap is NOT setup for this(although at 16 degress timing, is still probably VERY safe for a few degrees advance).
Anyway, I personally plan on moving to a headgasket soon, but Id like to try and break 400whp on the stock motor first, be it with race gas or pump gas.
Ill have my spare short block here in the next couple of weeks, so the buildup begins with some nice Benson sleeves

Cody,

This is going to sound bad, but I am very interested, as I am sure alot of other people are, about you turning up the boost now that you have that spare block. It will be interesting to see how many miles you can go on 10-11 pounds of boost. See what breaks first and all. I to will be going lovefab, as it is the BEST PEOPLE, and plan to eventually run a 2 mm gasket.

If Cody's car can stand 10-11 psi without a gasket for some miles, then I will feel very safe doing it with a 2mm gasket. I'll be watching for the outcomes.

Cody the is a small problem here. I do not have a spare motor and I do not have anyone here who could sleeve my block (what the hell is it anyway..even google can't find it)..I will just wait for you to try the head gasket, in the mean while I will run 8psi/4psi boost setting. I hope to see the kit in my car asap..thanx for your reply
Any idea on the summer/winter tuning issue?

Well once I get time to install my Vmount setup, I will be making the trek to re-tune the car(ok, basically turn up the boost and cross my fingers ). No, seriously though, one of the benefits of running your own business is that blowing the car up and rebuilding it can be written off as an expense.
HOPEFULLY this doesnt happen, and NO Im not going to be just "turning up the boost and crossing my fingers."
I too want the car to run great, and a long time on even 10psi. I cant even imagine the feel of another 60-80whp/tq. That, and our base kits dropped the crappy Ebay intercooler, and we are using Precision intercoolers now; this will be good for another 10-20whp just bolting them on over the previous intercooler.
Just hang in there, Im antzy as hell to be working on my own stuff again; unfortunately, been very very busy and I need to get a few cars out of here first.
