Default Help please

!!RAGE!!

My car just doesnt want to get tuned up ! I have it booked in tomorrow, ive just started her up to move her into the garage and the exhaust manifold is blowing like hell. the forward most nut had come off somehow(????) Ive put a new one on it appears that the exhaust manifold has warped around that port-

What should i do-

Im worried if i keep tightening up the nut to pull the manifold inline and seal the port it will snap a stud. Maybe if I let the car run to warm the manifold then tighten the nut? (risking waking the whole sleeping neighbourhood) or maybe if i use map gas torch to warm the exhaust manifold and tighten the nut in place. Or both?

arggh

advice please

Not the answer you want to hear, but cancel the appointment, get a new manifold & swap em.
My Revhard warped on side closest to firewall, I tightened down as much as possible but it still leaked, eventually it cracked in the middle so I replaced.

your certainly right thats no the answer I wanna hear!

Especially as the manifold is brand new- when it came it was warped so i paid to get the thing skimmed and now after 100miles the dumb thing is warped again !

My revhard doesn't leak at all and I never had that issue what kind of bolts are u using??? The oem ones should work fine. I did have to grind a bit down on one of the bolts to make it so that it would fit. I would try doingthat if ur not able to turn it and use a torque wrench when possible. Most of them I just had to guesstimate because a torque wrench doesn't fit but I wouldn't tighten to hard or you might be buying a new head or gettin yours machined

You could always go and get stronger bolts. I'm using m8 x 1.25 x 30 I think 8.8 grade for mine and it hSnt given me any issues as of yet. Im pretty sure that's the size I used. Take ur bolt and go to pepboys or a shop and see I'd you can see the thread pattern

Yeah just OEM bolts

the manifold was professionally skimmed flat- when i received it from PFAB (it was as bent as a dogs hind leg)! I cant believe after 100miles its bent again - really wtf?

Did you do the proper torquing sequence when installing? I started from middle and went outward in star pattern.

4 1 5
6 2 3 7

Definitely swap those OEM studs for ARP's, the OEM ones are not suitable for turbo.
Most people , myself included use ARP studs with the OEM nuts.

Also did you contact P Fab about this? I would ask him to just send you a new manifold F.O.C.
Maybe they had to take off too much flange material to get it flat. Better to start fresh.

Yeah I started in the middle and worked out- I couldnt use a torque wrench on all of them due to the shape of the manifold but am normally not a million miles out when hand matching the torque.

I even retorqued after a few heat cycles

get a new manifold, arp studs and stage 8 fastners (these will prevent the nut from ever backing off) . the manifold will never seal properly again.
do you have a flex pipe in the downpipe?

that could actually be the reason

i should look into that for myself haha... i only have the stupid spring bolts and a ball gasket thing holding mine to my tp.

I would just contact them and get a new manifold from them free of charge like deception said. Don't know what pfab's warranty is like, but i'm sure they'll work something out with you. From what i hear they're all very nice people haha...

instead of the oem bolts i used 8.8 strength ones and not arp ones... i guess i should upgrade it... i don't need a damn stun snapping if i were to ever take that manifold off...
