HKS S2000 Super charger - Maximum power achieved so far?
 

Hi guys,

Been looking into the HKS super charger for my s2000. I can get it for a good price from the UK and am tempted to try it but I know I will want more power then the 340 - 350bhp it makes as standard. I have read that HKS offer a smaller pulley so around 400bhp is possible.

Any one tried this?

I was (and probably still will) get the SOS Stage 2 kit but I like the quietness of the HKS supercharger and the fact that weight and placement have been taken into account. I also read that the HKS charger produces more torque low down then the SOS kits but I don't buy that since it makes less power overall anyway and if it was making more low down power then by the time it revved to 9krpm it would be out of efficiency.

You should also check out the new Kraftwerks kit, hearing good things about it.

x2, that new KW kit looks like the way to go... biggest numbers I've seen on the HKS kit was from my buds car (Trunger on here), I think he made 380hp and something like 270 tq on a stock f22

by the way, that was at extreme high altitude. We live at 2200 ft above sea level.

Thanks for the suggestions on the Kraftweks kit. :thumbup: I have done some research and it does look good and apparently it produces more torque low down compared to the SOS kit. Not sure why??

Looked a few You Tube videos and the strange bearing like sound from the SOS paxton supercharger doesn't really sound that good at all - the Kraftwerks/Rotrex superchargers do seem much quieter. Main worry with Kraftweks seems to be quality control issues which concern me, especially since I would need the kit shipped to the UK.

Whats the most power anyone has made from the Kraftweks kit so far?

Don't be fooled by the outdated dyno sheets on the SOS site. Those are for the 1220 blower. That's pretty much on the same level as a N1000, but slightly better. If you pulley down with the SOS kit with a 1200 blower ($65 upgrade), torque will be more. My SOS kit has 492whp/319ft-lbs of torque up top. At 6k rpms, I'm already over 250ft-lbs to put that in perspective.

Just so were giving ALL of the facts...your getting this power on E85 if I'm not mistaken.

Here are some comparisons of Rotrex vs Paxton. These are both 2.2l engines on the same Dynojet 224 xlc. The Rotrex does make more power lower in the rpm range. Even my old C30-94 at 10psi makes more than the Paxton 1200 up to 7000rpm. ...and the Paxton is at 13psi. No question about the great SOS build quality and reliability. We will see over the time how the new KW kit is. Just my $0.02

In the UK Id be using Shell V Power which is 99RON fuel.

The SOS product does seem rock solid and they have great reliability too - the Kraftwerks seems much more of a risk.

E85 for sure definitely not 91 piss gas. I'm just demonstrating what the SOS kit is capable of. My tune has AFR of 10.5:1 and could go leaner for more power, but it has plenty of power for my purposes. Different AFR, timings, exhaust setups, etc can affect the numbers for minimal difference in dyno plots. Great comparison, but I would just take that as a grain of salt. KW and SOS are great kits, but Novis like to be overspun. My tuner's old rotrex exploded from over spinning causing him his engine. I've never heard that happening to a Novi. What's the highest numbers for the new KW kit? 468whp at 20 psi on E85?

All good points and I do agree. Rotrex blowers do not like to be over spun! My personal comparisons are relatively valid simply because of the same 2.2l engines on the exact same dynos and tuned by the same tuner.

Isn't the car with 468whp that you are referring to a TTS car from Australia? That was also on a Dyno Dynamics unit that tend to read low compared to a DynoJet.
