Well I decided to fill everyone in on my rebuild that I was documenting on my local forum, I had been racing at the strip last fall and the motor let go during one of my runs. Track was not prepped and it was super slippery out and I had to use my drag radials, you can hear the motor eat itself in 4th:

I moved to Ottawa after my motor let go at Terrace Bay test and tune, arrived in Ottawa after towing my the car with my trusty Ridgeline:

Trick I use to hold the roller rockers in place when disassembling

Not a good sign when your valve guides are in your intake manifold:



Removing more accessories and turbo kit:



Turbo kit off....also have driveshaft and exhaust off:



From the way the motor failed I suspect a valve dropped, an issue I understand is not uncommon with the Supertech valves.

Well the head is off and confirms the valve dropping; you may be able to tell which cylinder was affected by the drive by shooting from the valve gang. You can see the pieces of cylinder one sitting ontop of cylinder 4.



Damage to the cylinder wall to determine if the sleeves are still useful



Whats in the engine bay now



Transmission out, looks a lot easier in this picture than it is to do the job on your own lol.

Again this makes lifting out a short block by hand on your own look easy haha

Lol a hoist would be great, I will have one when I am done school for sure. For now I will just use my bulging biceps. I am hoping for around the same numbers as before, want to do everything right with the best parts.

Time to disassemble the bottom end so I can get it back together. Here is the windage tray, oil pump and oil pickup on the bottom of the motor:



This is the block girdle that functions as main caps for the crank:



Block girdle removed:



Rod caps removed then crank was next on the list:



Pistons, rods and crank out:



Thats it for now, time to send the empty block away to check if the sleeves are still salvageable. Will update later!

Haha yes I will consider that too, but for now my bulging bust will have to do that portion Yes you are correct displacement is the plan, but you are ahead of my updates, lol.
