Default How do you handle the power

Hey guys,

I'll admit this could be a real noob question.

I was just wondering how you guys handle all the power you are making on the streets. I'm running the vortech kit (stock boost) and I feel like when I'm in high rpms, especially in 3rd gear, the car isn't holding on the ground too well. Like i could skate off the road or something.

There is a chance I could be just paranoid. When I first got the car last November (first rwd car) I spun out going 10mph in the rain on bald tires turning into a shopping center. I've been paranoid of the car kicking out from under me ever since.

I'm running kuhmo mx's 225/255 with about 4k on them for reference.

I guess I'm just looking for a little insight from you guys if there is something I should be doing better, or if I'm just making this up, or if there may be some parts that could help (spoilers, splitters, etc.).

Thanks a lot!

Nate

Dont think that is the best of tire. Is it breaking free in second or third?

Im on crappy falken 452's and they still hook up well on the street.

I used to love my Kumhos when I ran them on my FD's. You're in good hands with Kumho.

I'm on 225/245 RE050's now with roughly 5k miles and I feel the same way about them as you do about your current tires. I'll be switching to Falken Azenis RT615's when these get tore up.

I think youre just paranoid . I run a vortech setup and it feels perfectly safe . I dont think it makes enough torque to brake traction in 3rd gear even with lousy tires . Kumho tires are good , so i doubt there a problem there .

My advice is check your tire condition often. The S doesnt do well with bald tires I heard many accident stories in rain with it. if you want to spend little more money to gain confident you can buy the J's or T1R Anti bumpsteer kit these will help stabilize the rear.

If I can hold traction with my setup (during summer anyway, except for 1st gear), there should be no reason you should be breaking traction. I'm just running regular summer tires.

With a vortech setup and some bridgestone tires I forget the model I have broken them lose in second after hitting a odd series of bumps. The rpms jump quickly the car gets a little sideways. Now I run hankook rs-2's no more problems. It has never broken them lose on a nice smooth road.
