Default How to 'idiot-proof' my EMS?

Before the flaming begins over this, I've already sent out a couple PMs to some people but haven't received a response back, and I've looked around on the forums, to no avail.

Sadly, roughly 48 hrs after driving my newly turbo'd AP2 back from Inline Pro's shop in VA to my home in north central FL, I was backed into by a lady not paying attention to where she was going. I love my luck in life. Anyway, having said that, it's obvious that I have to drop my car off at a body shop to get the driver's side door fixed and repainted where she stripped the paint and left a 1/4" wide gash the entire length of the door. My problem is that there's no way in hell I'm just leaving my car as is with anyone with the power its making.

Is there a way to make a 'valet' mode or anything with the AEM EMS without getting too far as to screw the tune up? Can I just lower the rev limiter to say 3500-4000 rpms or will that screw other things up?

Simple question, I know, but this is the first time I've run into this problem. Any helpful suggestions from the F/I crowd would help. Thanks.

You can lower the rev limiter and set a fuel cut for a set boost level. That shouldn't hurt anything unless they run the car on the limiter for a few miles.

I don't know why they would need to drive your car in the first place... Put it in Neutral and push the car around the shop...

Sorry about your luck man

How's the car running otherwise? Which turbo did you go with?

Exactly...they shouldn't 'NEED' to drive my car in the first place, but will most likely ask for the keys so they can 'drive' it to a lift or to get it in the garage from w/e it gets parked. That being said, I've had VERY bad experiences in the past from the simplest things like getting a realignment to fixing a warped head on my previous cars and they were all ragged out on b/c they were 'modded' cars and the employees didn't give a shit.

That being said, I'm not risking this on my 400whp AP2, it's just not happening.

My question on boost cut and changing rev limiter, is it really as simple as just going in and changing my rev limiter from 8500 where it is now to say, 4000? Then when I get it back I can change it to 8500 again without that affecting ANYTHING ELSE in the program?

My fear is, as I haven't worked with a standalone before, that if I change something as simple as the rev limiter or psi where boost/fuel is cut and save those settings, that when I go to change them back to how they were, it will have screwed up the other more important and intricate settings that there's no way in hell I'll be able to reproduce unless I drive to Tampa and get another tune.

Yeah, my luck is continually bad. As for the turbo, its a 3076r cartridge with a T04B compressor cover from PTE and a T3 turbine housing from ATP, also a B trim.
Although many people run the 3076R cartridge, I can pretty much say that I am the only one with this turbo, unless someone else out there wants to prove me otherwise. No notching of the frame required either

My only complaint is that I have yet to receive a dyno chart for it.
The 6 puck takes some getting used to, but I've grown used to it by now, its a chattery sob at stops, but damn does it grip. I'm most likely going to be heading back up to Inline Pro sometime near winter to have them swap out the housings for bigger ones, go with some bigger injectors/resistor box and shoot for 450-470whp, something similiar to Seminole's #s.

You need to get on AIM more often so I can ask you these questions before making worthless threads. I can't get in touch with anyone else, so this is my last resort, but thanks for the info.

Tim - why would it hurt anything if they run the car @ 3500-4k miles for a few miles?

Pm minitoyota he's actually pretty good with the aem system, he's always on his laptop.
I believe you can change whatever you want on the map and after you get your car back you can load your Original Map on your car and it will be back to normal.

Indeed I can change everything/anything on the map, but I'm scared to b/c I wouldn't know what I was doing very much and don't want to risk blowing anything up or melting things. I'll pm him and see what he says. Thanks for the help Marcus.
