Default How often do you retune your car

Was wondering everyone's thoughts on if they retune their cars winter and summer or just once and done? Got my car tuned in 40 degrees of weather now it's around 90. Car seems to be running richer around 13.8 AFR on really hot days and the other night was right between 14.5 and 14.8 when it was 55 out Friday night. Do you have to get it tuned for each season and will it help it run better?

When I tuned my own car I always just had a winter tune and a summer tune that I would swap between depending on the weather. The only differences between the two maps was the fueling was a little leaner for warmer temps (80ish and higher) and then I have a tune for when the weather gets really hot (like 100-115*F) where I will pull 1-2* of timing out of the map to keep temps down as well.

They say you should be able to have one map where the air temp fuel comp tables make up for these variables, however with our IAT sensors getting heatsoaked so easily, this didn't work well for me at all.

I tend to tune once and done, but check seasonally and retune as my setup changes.

I run closed loop feedback from the wide band with my Aem and never have to touch it . I haven't changed anything in years though . It's always wise to check the tune when parts are changed .

I'm running 93 octane. Going back regardless to turn up the rev limiter and see if we can squeeze an extra lb of boost out of it. Just odd how when it's cool out the AFR ratio is about 14.5 to 14.8 when warm between 13.8 and 14.2.

bingo. 02 feedback feature engaged and you should technically never have to worry about it through the varying ambient temps of the season changes.

Its not odd, its normal. Cooler air is denser. That means more air per fuel parts.
