there is a plastic cap in the bottom of the stick in the trans. I broke the same part in my 240z many years ago.

maybe pull the center console out remove the stick and see what is at the bottom the the shifter??

man been a shitty day come home fastest s2000 trans is broke paul walker dead coming from the bike world dog gears are not forgiving so I would expect a shift fork to be bent would explain the miss shift. did it pop out of gear at all before this? its good there's no metal in the oil hoping the shifter linkage is the weak link and there is were it ends. don't give up take a break if needed your not going to mind many cars that will give the things the s can deliver

It wasn't popping out of gear, so I guess that's also a positive. If the shift fork is bent, the whole tranny has to be removed and opened up. Hmmm, how do I lie to the wife and tell her it won't cost $, lol

pull it yourself and drop new forks in as long as the dogs are good it shouldn't be too awful the biggest problem is if you drove it for a long time it would gal the fork slot in the gear sorry its not better news but you can get the gears hard welded if you did round a dog I want to see this thing go 9.4 et maybe have ignition cut when you shift that's the setup I had on race bike for that reason
