Default I need some advice

Hello FI brothers. Don't post much, but have been lurking for quite some time. I'm at an impasse now. Pre KW kit I was set on my FI path. Now with the KW youtune kit with the discount, this alternative is difficult to ignore.

I'm torn between that and my own turbo setup. I have a gt3071 with the split turbine housing from ATP, manifold, FMIC, BOV, injectors, clips, wastegates, headgasket, etc. To run this setup optimally, I'll need to relocate the AC lines, fuse box, and battery. I still need to fab up the IC pipes, dp, and exhaust (I'm leaning toward a dual twin loop for quiet)

Cost wise if I go with the EMS I'm right about at 5000.

If I go with the KW kit I'm out around 5.5k, however I don't need to fabricate relocating anything. Also I can go with the FIC which appears like a great fit for this kit. I get to keep my stock off boost maps. I'm not sure if the FIC would work as well with my turbo set up.

I've built and driven turbo hondas before. With the SC, I don't need a boost controller, egt, or turbo timer.

Pros for the turbo setup would be a fantastic boost curve. The neon SRT guys like this turbo and quite a few are getting 400+whp with supporting mods. Cons are the extra fabrication involved, down time and the finicky nature of a car after having done so many mods at the same time.

It's also fun tooling around and having something unique. Not so fun is hunting down all the little parts and odds and ends since you are doing everything yourself.

Peak whp will be similar, around 380 whp though I think the turbo will win the "area under the curve" argument. The SC will win the easier install argument. I tell ya, the idea of spending a weekend and then being done is soooooo appealing. Wish I could drive/ride in a KW'd S. It would help tons. Oh well.

Sorry for the long post. FI brethren, what say you?

I was SC and am now turbo. Turbo is wayyy better IMO. I like the full power / non progressive curve the turbo offers.

You will have to work on the car more with the turbo though. (repairs/maintenance)

well your looking at two completely different spectrums of FI.

On one hand you'll have a custom setup which will take alot of time to get right and will require lots of fabrication and probably have lots of kinks to work out and lots of downtime. With the ulitmate benefit of more power under the curve, and probably more power potential, but also runs the risk of costing alot more in the long run for unexpected expenses for misc parts you may need.

On the other hand you'll have a kit which will fit flawlessly and can be installed in one sitting, and never have to f with it ever again. At the expense of not having explosive power when boost hits, but with the realzation that you'll be able to drive it right away without worries or very much downtime.

what you've described right there can be done via a turbo kit as well. one properly designed

But the thread is comparing a KW SC kit vs a custom turbo setup.
