I want boost.
Hey all!
I recently have finished my car cosmetically as I have wanted, and I am looking to go boost. I am not looking to get into heavy duty tracking but I want both the aspect of having a turbo kit for the sake of accomplishment, and the ability to know that I have the power (but rarely ever use it)
I want to ask the s2ki community a few questions (I checked the FAQ and didnt find anything and I want to ask other people that own s2000's since other cars that my friends own may be different)..
-My car is a bit beyond the 100k mile mark, is this a problem?
--If this is a problem is there anything outside an engine swap (to a newer engine) I could do?
I'm looking at (and interested in) the PTuning kit, would you say this is a good kit for moderate power and
minimal maintenance needs? (I hear horror story's of peoples Turbos constantly acting up)
- Should I look to do anything to upgrade my engine itself before turboing? Or is a stock block acceptable?
Any other things I should think about that I am not necessarily thinking about would be necessary, especially if they are pertinent to the PTuning kit!
Thanks!

the p tuning kit is great and is prob the most complete kit out there, i would do a compression and leak down test to see the health of the motor, if all cylinders check out boost that bitch
The ability to have the power and not use it....then get a Super charger.. You need to get a clutch alonge with the other things listed in this tread. Just make sure you have close to 10k to put toward you whole change over to a turbo. A SC would be a bit less expensive and more reliable for your older car. The ptuning kit is the best turbo kit however IMO

I know its going to be expensive... The whole transition to turbo is going to be this winters big project... I already knew I'd need a new clutch (My clutch is pretty shot anywho so regardless of turboing my car or not I'd have to change it)
And I have heard from multiple people from the forums that if your going to turbo that you should expect to spend $10,000...
I guess my reason for starting this thread was to see if I was stupid to turbo such a high mileage s2000.. and if Im not completely stupid, what I'd have to do to my car to prep it to handle the turbo.. so far Ive got:
Clutch
Oil jet/banjo bolts & retainer
I understand that a SC is alot more reliable.. But I also dont like how the power that comes from a SC is very gradual, and not quite the same feel as a turbo..
