Default If engine blows up during tune...

I'm going to have my '01 tuned after I finish turbo installation.

1. Do tuners make you sign a release paper?

2. If God forbid an engine blows up during a dyno session, who's responsible? Will a tuner, say, foot an engine purchase?

You sign a waver before YOUR car touches the Dyno for tuning, therefor its YOUR responsibility, NOT the shops! If it blows, guess what, there going to call a tow company and have your shit towed somewhere

If they installed the turbo and tuned it, I would expect the shop to have responsibility. If your're just going in for a tune and your engine blows, you are SOL.

Never found a shop or tuner that will accept responsibility for blowing up an engine, even if they did the install.

Most Dyno's/tuners have you sign a waiver.

some shops do carry some form of liability insurance, a friend had his turbo tuned and after it was all done a valve got bent, the shop paid for the new valves and did the install at no cost. better deal with some non-shady garages...

that's not admitting liability, that's being a good business. Many shops would love to do this but can't afford it.

No shop will ever guarantee that the motor won't blow on the dyno. They usually always make you sign a waiver. And if they don't, I'd be wary of the shop.

the shop had an insurance to protect itself from lawsuits, the insurance company paid for the damaged parts. unusual but true...

So there's a wide range of tuners as far as responsibility goes. Thanks!
