If Mahle were to make FRM compliant pistons..
I'm currently running 600whp with no issues at all on stock pistons and compression. I don't need anymore power than that on the road course. Considering the stock motor is working fine for me what possible advantage could I gain from lowering the compression? I wouldn't switch to the Mahle's until (if) my pistons fail.
I guess the poll should have had 8.5 I didn't think anyone would want to go that low.

Yeah at that point you dont really need aftermarket pistons. They are already forged and I dont think you can ever get factory reliability with aftermarket stuff. 600whp is more than enough for a road course. I cant even imagine running that much but it must be a blast.
Momentum and I didn't realize 8.5 would garner much interest, but turns out we may have been mistaken. Personally I think 8.5 is really low and there is no real need to go below 9.0 but who am I to say.
Unfortunately I can't edit the poll. So far, it looks like it's mostly split between 9.0 and 9.5. I wonder how many of the 9.0 voters would have preferred 8.5. Even if half of the 9.0 voters preferred 8.5, 9.5 still would retain the majority; it would take 100% of the 9.0 voters to really keep it a tie between 8.5 and 9.5.
However, if Mahle does show interest in mass-producing these pistons on some level, I am sure another poll would come up with 8.5 as a choice.

I have to mention once again that there is a piston producer out there that produces low compression pistons for the F20C. Woessner. They list 8.5:1 but also do custom work.
If enough of you want 9 or 9.5 why not approach them with a bulk order?
I just don't understand this preoccupation with Mahle.

8.5:1 means about 50-75 more hp on the same fuel as 9:1 with out blowing things up.
Mahle does have a really good s2000 forging, they are built on a custom basis so you can get whatever you want at the moment

AusS2000: The G-Fal (sp?) coating on the Mahle piston is what sells me. The Woessner Piston sounds like a good deal (price is really good), but I have not encountered anybody who has any long-term experience running their coated piston on an FRM sleeve. I would prefer to build my engine and trust that it will last until I save enough money to go for a sleeved block. Even then, I may just keep the FRM sleeves if they hold up to the stresses that I plan on putting them through. Dealing with high boost and high revs during hot Summer track days may be asking too much, though. However, if I were to run a piston that would fail and ruin the lining, then I would no longer have the option of keeping with the FRM.
