i have this is exhaust and it is pretty loud. its loud at pretty much every rpm and load situation. the only time its not really loud is at highway cruising speed. but once you press the gas a little to get up a hill it gets loud. i really don't mind it, but i am sure some wouldn't like it to much. in the mornings i put a silencer is because i can hear the car from a mile away even at light load. (had my brother drive it for me) others have gotten this exhaust and just put a different muffler on it and it made it quieter. its up to you, and i hope this helps

no, the exhaust did not come with a silencer. i work at a repair shop that can also get some performance parts so i just picked one up at work. its a 4 inch outlet.

so would it b better to buy a 3in custom piping welded in and keep my HKS muffler. i know i got to make sacrifices for performance just dont wanna be causing TOO much attention while im on highway and CHP pullin me over ya know. BTW macprotege5 are you in the socal area?

i would think the custom route would be in your best interest being you are in emissions nazi land. maybe you would even want to have a resonator or two welded in while you are having the exhaust made. i am not sure if that will have any effect though. i have read that the hks is a little quieter then the inline pro canister. i am roughly 3000 miles away from you, i live near philly pa.

well if the HKS is a little quieter than the inline thats not too bad then. unless someone else objets. i wasnt too worried about emissions just yet since i would b useing AEM ems so that would negate my smog standards would have to look for "tuner" friendly shops to assist in the process of passing ya know. thanks for your info though im goin to see what inline says
