Default Installed new Pistons, Spring Retainers...

Just got my CP pistons (8.8:1), SuperTech Spring Retainers, Dual Valve Springs, and ARP Head Studs installed and when we started it up at the shop, it was making a slight ticking noise. I was wondering if anyone has experienced any noises after installing some of the parts I had done. It is not a super loud noise and it is not a loud knocking noise. Could it be the parts braking in?

Thanks

Um, a light clicking noise is usually what you get when your car is low on oil. Did they build positive oil pressure BEFORE turning the motor over? What is your oil pressure? Did they replace the oil banjo bolts and are they lined up correctly (not sure if that really matters, but good to know ).

After that I know nothing about doing valve jobs. I've helped replace a few pistons here and there back in the day though its been awhile. Like late 80's early 90's

Did you tell CP the pistons were going in a block with FRM cylinder walls?

If the answer is NO, you're hearing the pistons scuffing the bores.

I hope the answer to this is yes. With forged pistons, they are loose in the cylinder until they warm up and expand. The ticking noise could just be piston knock from cold pistons. Since you had the head off, the cam chain tensioner was removed. These have been known to cause a ticking noise. Also, since the head was off, the valves must have been adjusted. Maybe the lash is too great.

He should have mentioned the FRM walls considering I mentioned it about 3 times in his thread.
