Default Intake air Restrictor

Im going to go ahead and try this out, since there is noone that has done it yet with an s2000.
My goal here is to have the low rpm boost of a 13 psi comptech but only have 7psi max boost. While retaining the original comptech supplied FMU.
The reason behind this is so i dont have to spend the extra money on ems and injectors to make more low end power.

There are a few posts about this on some corvette forums as they actually come this way with there paxton kits.
Some say its bad for the charger as others say it causes a slight vacuum and actualy makes it easier for the charger.

I know that my IAT's will be higher than the original 7psi, but as long as there not higher than what 13psi would be i think im fine.

I wanted to hear what some of you thought might happen?
heres the link from the vette forums, they talk about restrictors around the last page.

and this is a quote from the supercharger kit sold for the new camaro seen here:
•Air inlet restrictor plate integrated into system provides greater low RPM hp & torque while maintaining safe peak RPM boost levels

Interesting, Im hoping to use a setup like this when I get my S/C kit. I want a turbo'ish powerband, but none of the headache.

****** shit. i had a bunch of stuff typed in and its gone.

short work

i wouldnt try to control boost by putting a restrictor plate on the intake, but thats just me.

i always wanted to see someone do this but on a larger scale, say 16+psi pulley, but run max 12-14 and using a bov to bleed boost up top.

if i where you, i would save up for injectors and ems, you could gain as much or more power just by lowering vtec to 4k and being able to properly tune the car fuel/ignition. if you dont have aftercooler yet, get that too.

good luck with whichever way you go.

If one were to use a restrictor setup, would a FMIC be enough to deal with the raised intake temps, as apposed to an aftercooler?

its easier than you think, put a smaller pulley and dont overtighten the belt. It will slip most probably after 7500rpm keeping your boost levels and supercharger safe. That way you wont have to spin you SC more than you need...

What about a bypass valve that opens at a specified boost level?

there is no way anyone should do it this way. thats far from safe or reliable. your asking for trouble.

can you explain your reasoning for not using the restrictor plate....
if the novi1000 would support more than 13psi then i would but it wont...
it will cost too much to go with a full ems and injectors, all i want is more low end power, i know its kinda stupid to choke the supercharger, but i dont want over 320 hp, because i know MY trans and diff wont last long over that.

i can try the bypass vave idea as well, since i have a dual BOV setup, i can use one for a wastegate, prolly a cheap one from ebay just to test it out.

Don't drive like an idiot and your tranny/diff will be fine.

Routine fluid changes/etc.

320whp is nothin.
