Default Intercoolers

Are there any differences between a name brand intercooler vs the generic ones? Found a brand new generic 600hp intercooler for 135.00 compare to the precision's at 350.00

I've used generic ones in the pat that seemed to be identical to one 5 times the cost! Pretty simple thing so I would never over pay for one. Intercooler piping can suck when generic sometimes though.

Ive had a Precision IC & an ebay IC. The Precision appeared to be better quality, nicer welds, denser fins.
I bought my precision for $150 used.

Highly considering buying a cheap one too. The one you had in the pic doesn't look too bad. The ebay ones look horrible though. You can just tell in the pics that they are cheaply made.

Would I have to notch the frame to fit the Precision?

Precision dimensions:31 1/2"L x 8"H - Width - 3.5"

Generic 600hp: 23"L x 12"H - Width - 3"

I recommend treadstone intercoolers they work and look great. You dont have to pay an arm/leg for it. The Tr8 is similar to pprecision 600hp and the TR10 to the 750hp model.

Treadstone seems to have an interesting lineup of all sorts of useful stuff. Glad you mentioned them!

I have a GReddy intercooler on my car now and It works great. I also used to have a Ebay intercooler on my 1JZ-GTE swapped SC300 and it worked great as well. I think the only real way to tell a difference between the two would be to buy both do a couple pulls and measure IAT's.
