Default Just picked up an AMS 2000 boost controller

Hi All,

I just picked up an AMS 2000 boost controller. I run the AMS 1000 on my Hayabusa and it has been fantastic. The 2000 is even more programmable. Basically it can make a turbo not only be gear based in boost, but more importantly it can alter the ramp rate of boost. The 2000 can also do it per RPM so I think this will be great for dealing with VTEC engagement and unwanted spikes in hp. I’ll let everyone know how it works out. The car should be swapped over to turbo from my supercharger in about a month. After that I’ll be selling my Comptech kit to help offset the cost of this swap. I wish I were rich, lol.

I’m running and AEM v2 now, but I’m switching to a Haltech with the new turbo set up.I have nothing at all against AEM, I think the supercharger kit will sell better if I include then ecu and injectors so the new owner can plug and play install the kit and get 400hp without having to change anything.

The controller is ridiculously expensive, but it definitely is the best out there for tunability. I use the prior version (an AMS 1000) on my bike and it makes the hp usable. The older 1000 model looks fancier due to its have an lcd display screen, and it was what I was planning on using on the new build, but I found the 2000 for a deal.

One very useful feature of the 2000 (and 1000) is ramp rate adjustability. You can adjust it such that your high boost turbo delivers power like a supercharger, or adjust it so acts like straight warfare spring pressure. It can also be set up run traction control.

Can't all this be done with more advanced ECU's like the Maxx Race?

There’s nothing else I’ve seen that runs two solonoids:. One for increase and one for decrease. I don’t plan on setting any records, but this is the controller that would be the choice if that’s what I were after. More precise control. Also, I’ve not found one person around this area that will tune any ECU besides AEM or Haltech.

What controller are you running and how much boost are you running?

I thought AEM V2 has built in boost control? I'm supercharged so no need for boost control - it's all linear and in step with the 9k rpm masterpiece engine but you know what that's like already
Haltech is a good option but one thing I don't like about their offerings is you have to use an external wideband controller... AEM V2 has that built in lol. That being said Haltech has a 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor built in whereas the AEM unit does not so, tit for tat...

The Maxx Race ECU has an internal boost controller. You can do boost by speed, boost by gear, traction control, all sorts of different variations.

I'll be running upwards of 50 psi when all said and done.
