Default KW SC vs SOS SC

Hey guys,

Short story is I slipped into a KW SC s2000 and found myself suddenly addicted to boost much like the first hit a crackwhore would take a hit to a pipe. We talked about the kit itself and it sounds great, KW gives you everything you need except for the aftermarket clutch and re-tune. Now I saw the SOS kit puts up 390 HP from its kit (not sure if this is the stage 2 kit) in comparison to the posted 350 HP on the Kraftwerks kit.

The point I'm getting at is the quality factor compared to both kits. Kraftwerks offers a 3 year warranty on their kit, does SOS do something similar? The 390 HP gain that I saw from the SOS kit cost as much as the KW hi-boost kit would? Just looking for some general answers to see which package I'd like to go with.

Disclaimer: I do know that HP ratings differ entirely on tune, additional aftermarket parts, etc. The HP I posted is apparently what both kits offer out of the box with nothing additional.

Thanks for any feedback in advance.

I know for a fact that SoS is very customer-oriented. If you have a problem they will take care of it.

On the other hand I believe the KW kit is more quiet.

Either way, both seem like the favored bets when it comes to SC'ing the S.

your numbers are a little high, if anything, the SOS kit offers the most upgradibility if you are looking for more power later, one member is already @ 500whp with an upgraded SOS kit

u need to decide if you want bolt on reliability, which both offer, or upgradeability, which SOS offers much easier. you can crack 400whp on the stock 1200 blower pump gas, and 500 on huge injectors + e85.

which one are you?

This battle goes on in my head all the time lol. The second the S2000 is paid off I start saving for a supercharger, and I'm eager to see where this thread goes.

I believe that dyno shows the stage 1 sos kit. The OP was quoting a higher stage. Both kits are quality and have thier own bonuses. For me, I like a kit that has big power potential, I also like the sound of the Novi blowers. SOS would be my choice. If you are tracking the car and looking for the most out of the box for that in mind, the KW is a well rounded option, comes with fmic and oil cooler so these are bonuses. SOS comes with an A/C and no oil cooler, fine for the street but not as good for racing INMO, so you would need to purchase a few extras that don't come with the SOS kit if you wanted the most reliable performance for racing out of the box. SOS is quite a bit cheaper though kit for kit, so thats another consideration.

Thanks for the replies. As far as the two kits are concerned (forget my lack of knowledge in FI); does the SOS kit have a different setup compared to the KW kit. I'm only asking this because you mentioned the Novi blower... Is this a different setup from what KW uses? My biggest concern is the warranty; KW offers a 3 year warranty on the kit, but I could not find anything on the SOS kit.

The last thing I wanted to ask was about the upgrade potential. SOS seems to have seamless upgrades to give it big power, but at around 500 WHP, I'd probably be more inclined to start building the motor. Couldn't I technically go with the KW hi-boost kit and if I'm looking at going past 340-370, I could stroke the motor correct (sounds awkward haha). Will I need to worry about compression in the car with the KW or SOS hi-boost kit?

Thanks again for the feedback, really feeding my brain with this info.

KW blower will be undersized if you up displacement on the motor. and honestly, stock f20/f22 can hit near 500 stock top to bottom. 400 the motor sneezes at, wiht the right tune of course. i wouldnt worry about building a motor just yet. stock one can take qwuite a bit of abuse.

The KW uses a slightly different type of blower, it is a centrifugal like the SOS Novi blowers, but its a higher revving, higher efficiency blower which is made by Rotrex, it operates with a planetary gear drive so its max speed is 100,000rpm, vs a Novi blower which is about 53,000. The Rotrex caps at 10psi. It produces a little fatter trq curve at 10psi because of its efficiency, but it spools out at a much lower hp potential as the side effect. I’m sure you could stroke your motor and make more. To my knowledge no one has a stroker motor with a KW kit in an S2000 so you would have to figure out what’s going to work best. I don't know what the warranty is on the SOS kits. There is a KW thread which you should take a look at, I’m sure it will give you some further insight.
