Lightweight flywheel causing car to stumble
I recently replaced my ACT HDSS and Fidanza 7.5lb flywheel. Actually, the flywheel wasn't replaced entirely. With the Fidanza, you can replace the friction plate for about $50 and keep it moving. For whatever reason, my car started acting up after the replacements. Whenever the AC compressor would engage at idle, the RPM's would nose dive and make the car stumble. It got so bad in rush hour traffic that the AC would stop cooling the cabin and start blowing hot air. Even worse, with the AC on and attempting to clutch in to a stop, the motor would sometimes die altogether.
I reached out to my bestest buddy in the whole wide world 1SlowSi for ideas on what to do and he gave me some pointers. Turns out you can fix the issue very easily from your laptop. Here's a video of what I did in Kpro:

The only thing I forgot to show was I had to add around 10% more fuel to the low speed fuel table in the idle cells after I made the adjustments shown in the video (but before I shot it). The old idle was 900 RPM IIRC and was never as smooth as it is now (even before this issue stated). Before, it used to pop a little with a very minute miss. Now, it sounds healthy and with everything on (AC & lights) it holds the idle when you clutch in to a stop like a champ.
Relevant setup details:
- Stock motor
- ID 1000's on pump gas
- Kpro 3 in open loop only
- New battery installed after clutch job, subsequently ruled out all known electrical problems
Hope this helps anyone else that might run into this issue.

Not to derail the thread, but i ran the 8lb alumn Findanza flywheel for 5 years. Never new they also make a 7.5. when I replaced the friction disc, it would never hold a pressure plate again, unseated itself twice before I gave up and went to the one price act pro light. Expensive lesson.
