A little help from those using AEM FIC
I have a Rotrex SC pushing aprox 9 or 10 psi, the engine management is done by the AEM FIC
it has always had a slight "hicup" at 4300 rpm and I put this down to the big cams kicking in, I also get a black cloud on hard accelleration as the fr goes off the guage rich
I have been told this is due to the standard map going rich on accelleration but not knowing there are bigger injectors fitted, it's also not running as sweet on a cold engine again blamed on the bigger injectors
what are your thoughts, anybody out there running bigger injectors and the FIC?

Yep, there is or was several of us. The tuner could never get the tune right, I had hiccups and poor idle. The hiccup seems to be very common. The FIC Ended up fuel washing my motor so I learned the hard way. Interesting hearing another guy having similair issues with this device, I think its safe to say it doesnt work well with our ecu. If I were you I would $hit can that thing like yesterday and step up to a more proven managment device for our car before you do the same to your motor. Check your oil condition man!
I still say that fuel wash issue was totally your tuners fault and had nothing to do with the fic. I personally got my car to drive like stock with 550cc injectors idles was good too I only had an issue at wot it seemed like one day it was rich the next lean. I assume this was caused by my inexperience at tuning a piggyback.

[QUOTE=Kyushin,Sep 2 2009, 11:37 AM]Not at all, I have a FIC on my car, it has been shipped back to AEM afew times and has been tuned by 3 of the most reputable tuners in the country and the opinions given were all the same.
The same hiccup in the 4-5k rpm range is a prevalent problem, everyone has their theory but none have proven to be a remedy.
Tuning, many have reported not being able to lean our or richen out maps enough.

I'm running an FIC with 750 injectors. Runs and idles like stock and no hiccups anywhere. I'm using the boomslang harness with a few wires disconnected. It has taken some time to dial it in but has been stable and reliable. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to someone else but it's working as expected for me.
