Okay, five months ago I started hearing pinging. What I though to be detonation. I checked my over flow tank and found this
But I had a long drive ahead of me and had just gotten done with a 900mile drive. So I added coolant. So this might of been the extra coolant going through 75kmile old hose for the first time.
So I let her sit over night and drove her again. After a half an hour of driving I got the pinging noise again under acceleration. And my AFR under acceleration was fine, but at cruise it would hit 18.0 or just tack out. But I deployed the next day, so I stored her.
Yesterday, I broke her out of storage and changed the oil, it was clean and not milky. Changed the spark plugs, they didnt show signs of detenation, but did show signs of overheating. I then did a compression check and got
Cyl 1-243
Cyl 2-237
Cyl 3-237
Cyl 4-237
So I was pleased with that. I ran her a couple times on the highway and she did great. Went to start her up today and she fought me for a couple minutes. Then it started and ran perfectly fine. No pinging, no lag. But the AFR is still way lean.
Should I worry. I am a worry wart. But at the same time I dont like that my AFR is off the charts.
My tuner closed shop during my deployment. I am looking into it for the time being. Can AEM EMS change its tune on its own? Or could it be an O2 sensor going out maybe?
who was your tuner? and your o2 sensor could very well be breaking it up. As far as the AEM EMS, I dont know much about that but it shouldnt just boggle a tune like that.
The tune jumping is less likely to happen than the o2 going bad.
Dyno Inc. did the tuning. I dont know where D. went after it closed. But I am heading to Accuracy after I get everything pieced together for the boost upgrade.
Shad@accuracy is supposed to know his stuff so he should be able to straighten you out. I just wouldn't run it too hard until you get it retuned and looked over
After 3 years my AEM wideband 02 sensor went out. It exhibited much of the same symptoms you are experiencing wile cruising. I started noticing it would just show a lean out sweep, then later it would start showing me problems at idle and WOT. If your plugs are showing actual signs of leaning, then this is likely not your problem, and it would be the actual tune/running condition. You might want to take pics of your plugs and show them to us.

Thats what I keep hearing. I look forward to his services (no homo?).
