Default Low oil prsssure need advice

Okay guys I need some advice.. My oil light flickers at hot idle only and when you give it gas it goes away.. I don't hear any knocking or anything so Im sure it didnt spin a rod bearing yet.. What do you guys think it is?? Bearings are about to take a shit or bad oil pump, haven't pulled the oil pan out yet to see, the car is just been siting for now .. I checked the oil pressure though and it reads about 10 at hot idle so it's really low.. I just hope the motor can be saved ?

I'm in the same boat as you. My mechanic hasn't opened her up, but i'm hoping for the best. Let's be honest, we're both screwed lol.

The light on the dash is pressure. I only know this because I hooked up my oil relocation backwards, and the light came on. Got the hoses right, light went off. 10psi at warm idle is pretty low. Mine is around 20-25. You say the pressure is fine when not at idle? What kind of oil are you using?

My oil pressure was low in my stock engine after 150k miles. When starting the car, the oil light would stay on for about 2 seconds then go away, and if the idle dropped really low and shook as if it were about to stall, the oil pressure light would flicker. It would never flicker at normal hot idle. So mine doesn't seem to be as bad as yours is.

Anyways, when we took my engine apart, cylinder 3's main bearing galled up the crank pretty good and was on the verge of spinning. Whole short block needed to be rebuilt, needed a new crank etc.

The oil light is just a blanket low pressure light, and oil pressure rises with rpms. So of course it wont blink while its running, but doesn't mean the engine still isnt running lower than it should be in driving conditions.

I think we'd all like to know what filter you had on there!
