Default Mac solenoid Install ?

I get how to wire but i see 2 different diagrams online
1. uses all 3 holes
2. uses only 1 and 2 (left and right holes not the center) the center looks like its just Blocked off

Whats the correct way?

Pretty sure you use two and the third uses the little screw-on piece. When I get home I'll take a closer look at it.

Is port 3 suppose to have a filter on it, Or can I just leave it open?

Your valve should have come with a block off that will allow you to vent to atmosphere. Its end looks like a fine gauze.
