Default maint req'd light flash with AEM EMS

1. I have a vortech'ed ap1 with AEM EMS and 50k miles. Recently when i start the car i noticed the maint req'd light flashes for about 4 seconds. After that it doesnt do it again. Does this mean anything bad or is this just the regular maint req'd flashing light that comes on after a certain amount of miles???

2. If it doesnt mean anything how do i get rid of it???

Thanks in advance.....it may be a dumb question but i dont want to hurt my baby

The AEM EMS is totally customizable. You need to know which output is driving that light, then look up the configuration of that output to determine what set of conditions turns on that output. I would contact whoever tuned the EMS for you or the previous owner.

Lacking that information, you could try to find someone here or on the AEM boards to reverese-engineer the EMS configuration. Odds are that they duplicated the factory oil service mileage interval reminder as the configuration for that light.

I've heard of some people having configured that to act as a shift light. Do you notice it flashing near redline?

if it flashes when you first turn the car on then it is prolly the mileage, try resetting the maint light
