i have a 2002 s2ooo with the HP performance turbo kit running 10:5 compression(due to a mil hg). I previously made 380whp with a .48ar 50 trim. on 12psi i just upgraded to a precision sc62/62 .82ar and was wondering what the maximum amount of boost i could run safely on 10:1 compression motor is ?

 

U could run 30+ on race gas if u wanted too! As long as the rods can hold the power then ur good to go. It depends how much power the turbo is producing too!

 

Alot of boost!! Race Fuel will be needed tho. if you expect to always run high numbers... Expect to open you wallet cuz c16 isn't cheap.

Just wondering why are u worrying about psi? That turbo might produce 550whp on pump gas! Thats a really good compression so i say u might be able 25psi depending on how much power ur putting down.

no way dude ^^^^ you can't make 25lbs of boost on pump gas 91. He's gonna blow his motor!!! To make it worse... he's running 10:1 compression... thats just gonna narrow down his window of opportunity with safer tuning.


most tuners won't go above 19lbs of boost even with 9:1 compression ratio... Why??? because its not safe and all it takes is one bad tank of gas to blow up the motor


I produce 540 at 19lbs of boost on pump gas. I'm running 9:1 and methanol injection.
and i'm pretty much at the limit of how much power i could make using pump gas Safely.

 

Thanks I'm saying how much boost is safe for 10:1 compression. I know on stock compression you can only run max 10psi depending on tune. Just wondering with a good tune is somthing like 18 psi safe??

 

you would have to wait until the real turbo experts chime in on this. i would like to say 18lbs as well with a bad ass tuner. but the 10:1 compression still lowers the liability vs 9:1 compression would offer while still being safe with pump gas. I'm no expert but i don't wanna see another blown s2k due to failed tuning.

 

I appreciate your help. I agree completly I wish the car was running 9:1 I def do t want to blowthe motor over just alittle more power. Thats why I'm wondering what's safe. I know the turbo is capable for over 600 hp but don't know what the stock components in the motor can handle. I know for a fact I can't run 25psi.. But just curious what I can
