then you are fine. I wouldn't even worry with it. Drive the hell out of it.

Just be a little more careful and always push the clutch back in if you feel its in the wrong gear.

built head, mechanical over rev for a split second you'll be fine...if you had stock valve train you would have reason to worry...

Yeah, you're fine man. That built head is good for around 11k rpm.

Im just wondering how the hell you got the 2nd gear in at 85 mph. Those synchro's must have been screaming and grinding some. LOL

I have never had issues in the S, though I my old Fbody had second very close to forth and I near spit my rear end out on the highway once.

Don't sweat it.

ALONG time ago, when I had my Si, was making 400-450whp on a 1.6L.

We were out, my buddy just got a supra, and he wanted to run.

We went from a 60 roll I think, I was in 3rd, nailed it, and when I went to shift to 4th @ 80mph, I went to 2nd !!

It's redline was 8200, although I had it set to 9k, b/c I had a set of ITR valvesprings, basically stock head w/gsr cams.

Anyway, when I hit 2nd @ 80mph, just as I let out on the clutch I realized and pushed it back in, to late the motor spun FAST, passed 9k, passed where 10k would have been, almost came back up to 1 again, had it not hit the little pin, lol.

It finally came back around and I put it in neurtal thinking I was done, revved it, sounded ok. Put it back in 5th still rolling @ 70mph at this point, let out slowly, gave a little gas, sounded ok. Said WTH, back to 3rd, and nailed it. Pulled just fine.

Never looked back...lol. That car was a rock.

it's really the springs and retainers that take a beating on the mechanical over rev, but if it's not missing or smoking, you SHOULD be okay.
if that stuff wasnt upgraded you can float the valves and bend them on the pistons. makes car have a cool idle chop.....but its not cool, not cool at all. did it to my stock h22. missed a gear and hit 9k becuase the previous owner had the rev limiter removed. thats the worst thing i ever heard too. i wanted to punch him for that.

all the intake valves where bent when they floated and kissed the pistons. it was epic.
