Default misfire at high revs

Hi Guys,

Got a problem with what i think is spark blow out. I'm running a TTS performance full race supercharger kit with 18psi boost. Ngk 8's that are gapped down to 0.019". I am running a aem twin spark cdi and matching Aem pencil coils.

I have tried going back to oem coils but its much worse. With it being gapped at 0.019" I only get a slight misfire in 4th gear and above (with larger gaps you get a blow out in 3rd as well) so my question to you all is, is it ok to go down to say 0.016 to get rid of this misfire?

I have slowly gapped the plugs down from 0.030" to where it is now using both ignition systems to give both a chance and the aem is much better but its not right yet.

Oh and tried ngk 9's as a test and much the same.

Any ideas welcome, it has been driving me crazy the last couple of months!!!

Matt

Wow, thats a bit suprising you would have to gap that close with your set up. What fuel are you running? injecting water/meth? Just wondering why your spark requirments are so high with just 18psi. You might have no other option but to close the gap a tad more.

99 uk fuel so like 93/94 us fuel. No water meth. I would love to know why it needs such a ignition system for such low boost.

I'm going to try 0.016" later tonight and see if it works. Just wanted to know if people would recommend doing it. Engine has done 46k miles
