More Power? or Gears?
I am looking at making an upgrade here -
I have an AP1 with 50,000 miles on it
at this point - i have the science of speed super charger kit- just the base kit. so... i have two options to go up.
I can - get the next stage in the kit for more horse power or I can get a differnt final drive.
so... my 3 options are
#1 4.44 gears
#2 4.77 gears
#3 stage two of the supercharger kit. Looks like 50-60 whp increase
I do realize this is a loaded question without my prioriteis so my true priorities are in order below. (Note *** I do not need to drive faster than 140mph)
1. Reliability of the car (motor, tranny, everything I like things that do not break but understand the risks as well)
2. Accleration
3. Stability of car (safety... not "spinning too much" easy of driving, not dying .. all that good stuff)
4. Ease of instalation (i am in ND here... we do not have a lot of S2K stuff going on)
5. accleration / dollar
Full explianations of how you feel and why would be very helpful!!! Thanks in advance for any help -

I dont think shorter then stock gears would be your best bet although you dont have tons ohh power you still more prone to spinn em with shorter gears. Also i dont know if you dd your car but with shorter gears come more shifting as if you dont already have to shift alot with 4.10s and most likely less mpg on highway. Personally i'd just up the power but its just me.
Depends on your driving style.
I run 4.56's and I also have upgraded through the power rankings starting at 7 psi, going to 11 psi, retune at 10 psi, then finally at 12.7 psi. If I did it all over again, I would go straight to highest boost. I would have still done the gears. As far as spinning, I spin through 3rd gear. I will let you know to be prepared to upgrade clutch down the road and flywheel.
Gas economy matter to you? Do you have a tuner?
Keep searching as well..you may find the answers you are looking for as I did years ago.

Do you drive a lot of freeway? If so I would lean toward getting more power. I have 4.77 and a turbo, I have not changed it out yet cause to me its not too big of a deal. They work fine. Once I got the gears the car sprint up so much faster. I think 4.77's are best for N/A cars with a CAI and header mods. If your diff is in good shape and would just increase your boost but you probably will not see much acceleration from that. Once you break your diff from the increased HP, then I would do a puddy mod diff with 4.44 cryo sleeved.
i have done clutch, exhaust, flywheel, wheels, brakes... all that crap and more.....
I am maily focusing on these three things for the next upgrade, more responses very welcome - I know it all comes down to personal prfrence but ... i do not know ... due to not having it before so i have to go with what you guys have experienced. thanks!
