Hey s2ki members.

So recently I started hearing like a knocking noise from the motor. When the car is on and remove the oil cap I get a lot of blow by. (Told rings). I was Told motor is on its way out and should be repaired.

Thinking about getting the motor built. I am boosting but not much (9-10psi) 380+ whp.

What should I do? Rebuilt, or mild build? I want something reliable.

P.s Has anyone had their motor built by science of speed? Shop suggestions in Phoenix.

 

If your shooting for that much power i would just buy a low milage motor and call it a day.

 

Thanks for the response, Umair. Finding a motor with low miles will be difficult and actually run me a little more than just building the one I have. What do you think?

 

Honestly, you could buy a used motor that's good then within a month have the same happen to you again. A friend just did this. So now we just supplied him with new built sleeved motor.

 

I think you should get a stock motor since you want long term reliability. You will never see a built motor out last a stock one.....especially on a s2000. Your best bet would be to find a long block with some sort of warranty if your really worried about it. I can say that i have had nothing but great experiences buying used parts on s2ki. We have a good community.


But you can go the other route too and build the block. I think its a win win situation (built or stock) if you get it built from a good shop.

We have an Inline pro motor that's a tad over 20k in miles right now. He's all motor with ITBs.
