The S2000 piston is not forgiving and will break ring lands easily.

Doing a rebuild with new liners and aftermarket pistons will make the engine much stronger.

What in the world makes you say that?

Tune was not the issue. If it was any other tuner I would question the ability of the tuner, but this guy knows his shit! He had around 16deg of timing at 10lbs if I remember correctly, and the AFR's never spiked during the run, so I doubt an injector failed. And the injectors were purchased brand new from xenocron, wires were soldered so no chance of the wire coming loose.

Maybe, maybe not. Probably only a handful of people went down this path at most and even then, if their motors blew, would they come back here and actually announce it after all bashing back and forth on whats better? Think about it, forums can really skew real numbers

Im curious to see the damage to the piston. I have not seen a piston failure thus far with any s2000 ive worked with. The factory internals on the s2000 are very strong.

I would not speculate the cause just yet. You will be able to tell what happened once you tear the engine down.

Good luck.

Regards,
Mase

I dont buy that really, the stock motor is proven. The internals are proven ( 3mm HG or otherwise ) and I think this was an odd failure and not the norm if you know what I mean.
