Default Motor Mounts

I am having problems with my downpipe hitting my motor mount. I am wondering for those of you who have the Innovative mounts how much smaller are they? Do they give you more room?

The bottom of my manifold is hitting the cast aluminum bracket that bolts to the block. Could I shave the stock mount and not have any problems?

I have an AFI twin scroll kit. So everything is a pretty tight fit with the 2 dumptubes, oil filter, and fluid lines.

I'd try and shave the stock one if it wasn't too much that it needs to be shaved..
Have you talked to AFI about this?

Not yet I just noticed it Friday night when I was trying to install the lower section of my downpipe. I am going to call them tomorrow and ask them.

I had innovate mounts on my TA car for a while and they are horrible. The material they use is not bonded to the housing and eventually gets "beaten" into a smaller shape and rattles around pretty bad. When I took mine out the urethane(?) bushings just fell out of all the mounts. My car vibrates less with solid mounts. I know that doesn't really help you but just a warning FYI... My guess is something is not quite lined up right I doubt AFI would sell something that doesn't fit.

which durometer did you have?

I have seen that happen to avid and innovative mounts with the 65a mounts. I dont think i have ever installed any of the 85a mounts from either company.

I have 85a mounts waiting on my new motor, but if you say those fail as well then i might just have to fab up some solid mounts.

To the OP as long as you arent grinding away 1/2 the mount you should be fine

I had the hardest one's they offer, I'm not sure what durometer that was. I don't have much (any) experience designing urethane mounts but I was pretty shocked to find that the bushings were basically inserts. I would have thought they would be bonded to the actual mount.

I know that avid and hasport mounts also just use inserts, they are not bonded to the mount at all either.

The fact that they are inserts are one of the reason's I went for them. That way in the future if they wear out I can replace them. I went through OEM mounts very fast on my IP turbo car, hope I don't have any problems with my Innovative 75a mounts.

Better order some up. My car is a track only car and it only took 3 track days to have the mounts destroyed. I can't imagine how quickly it would happen on a street car.
