I'm just glad I'm boosted, stock I get much worse mileage that's for sure.
I don't believe this for a second
there is truth to that statement.
I have an '00 & the stock ecu runs very rich, my best highway was 23mpg. Since going turbo/ SC and being tuned on AEM EMS w/ O2 feedback my city has been 21-23mpg & my best hwy was 29mpg. Of course I can do a lot worse than that if I try but still with a mix of some boosted & normal driving I get better mpg boosted than stock

OP get Injector dynamics injectors, I started with RC750's and my mileage actually got worse than stock due to the pig rich idle you have to run.. ID's idle nice & lean like they should.

Yea im planning on getting both the aem ems and some id1000s its obvious that the prices arent cheap but are worth the money.

I also didnt know that tuning was a big factor in fuel efficiency

...I get 30mpg on a tank just driving around town with my stock ecu. With the comptech untuned i'm getting 23-24mpg around town. I'll have a tune and aem soon so we'll see, i still don't think there is any way to beat stock mileage when your dumping more fuel with larger injectors

I got better mileage turbod/tuned/id1ks than stock.

Your larger (good brand) injectors aren't dumping more fuel than stock unless you are making more power than stock. So for the times you are getting on it, you are getting worse mileage, but the rest of the time you are getting better mileage.

So pretty much with a setup like this you have good gas mileage until you start you using your power?

what year is your car?
regarding the injectors, they only spray as much fuel as you are tuned for.. so being bigger than stock does not make them any less fuel efficient, they just have the capacity to spray more if needs be ie. when in boost

Normal driving mpg should be near or above stock on a FI car of both cars are driven normal. Ie like a bitch. All changes when u dip into boost

I get around 20mpg and that can shoot up to as good as 28mpg on the highway for a long steady drive.

Well you don't know much about engines or at least turbocharged engines.

Sorry, you should read up. About 30% of an engines energy is lost directly out the exhaust pipes. Forms like kinetic and thermal energy. A turbocharger recuperates these and reintroduces them to further scavenge the energy previously lost.

Bottom line is, a properly sized small/midframe turbo will net you BETTER THAN STOCK MPG. Wake up.. A supercharger takes advantage of NONE of these losses.

I never got 30 in a stock S2K, least none that I've driven, probably only because I put my foot in it more than you but that's a driving style matter. Then again the rated MPG is only 25/28 for our car is it not? Either way, not the point.

The key isn't rich/lean like others said as much as it is what I listed in my last post energy re-scavenged. Though a lean partial throttle tune certainly does a substantial bit.

Your comptech is a supercharger, it has nothing to do with a turbocharger in the manner I mentioned in my last post. A supercharger will KILL MPG ALWAYS. It leaches hp from the crank and then has to spin a bunch of mechanical devices which further loose some energy in exchange for charged air intake which makes more power. Never is there recuperated energy though since the exhaust is still untouched and the energy is flowing right out the pipes. Again, you need to brush up on theory. This is also one of the reasons turbochargers are always produce more efficient power than superchargers and why you see more TQ on turbo setups compared to supercharged setups by a long shot.

What's frustrating is your "I don't believe this for a second" bit. Firstly you lack the knowledge to speak on the subject yet you point other people on a forum in the incorrect direction when you should have simply asked "WHY DO YOU GET BETTER THAN STOCK MPG?". I or some other members on here could have explained how the simple concept works and you probably would have comprehended just fine.
