Post My Greddy Turbo Experience

Well, I got my kit two weeks ago and I finally installed it yesterday with a few friends. One of them has the same kit, so it was easier for this install. After a week of receiving the kit, I've decided to check if I had all the parts. I've read up on people missing some bolts, but nothing serious. A friend of mine also picked up this kit and had no problems at all.

I find out I'm missing the compression tube that connects to the intake manifold and the intercoller. A major part I'm missing. This is the tube you would weld the flange to. So I contact Greg at GT Motoring to help me with this situation. I then find out that Greddy is questioning me because they think I messed up on welding the flange! Greg told Greddy that can't be because I didn't receive the flange from him yet. So, I'm just waiting on the manager to decide weather or not they are going to send me the compression tube. It's been two days now...

Now, on with the installation. It turns out I'm missing most the nuts and a few bolts for install! Great!! So, I head out to the hardware store with a friend to pick them up. So we were able to mount the turbo and manifold in. When it was time to install the tube connecting to the turbo, we weren't able to mount it because the turbo was clocked too much to the right. My friend didn't have this problem. "Kix" didn't have this problem either. So, we had to take the turbo and manifold off and clock it so we can fit the tube in. Alright, that problem was taken care of.

When it was time to install the oil relocation, I'm missing a Hex nut! 10mm x 1. It was a very rare nut because we went to 2 Kragens, 2 Autozones, a plumming hardware store, and Home Depot! I was able to find on OK nut for the relocation. It was sealed up with the teflon tape. Also, while we were out my friend told me I'm missing another part! A vaccum T fitting. Luckily we were able to pick that up before we head back to my friend's place.

Finally, the install was finished. I still don't have the compression tube so my friend let me borrow his just to make sure the install went well and I can at least drive my car home.

So, right now my car is sitting at home with everything in it except for the tube. I'm still waiting on it....I'll let you guys know what's the decsion from Greddy as soon as I find out. I hope I get it soon.

I'm not saying all kits will be like this. Many people did not have any problems with missing parts. You might be lucky and receive everything. Just make sure you check everything when you get the kit (down to the nuts and bolts), the turbo is clocked to where you are able to install the tube, and have a vaccum T fitting. Hopefully that would be the least of your problems.

Thanks for your time,
Jet

**UPDATE: I just got my compression tube today! 05/21/08**

That sucks for you. I was worried something would be missing also.

I ended up having a bunch of washers, nuts and bolts left over after my install was complete.

Point someone at Greddy to this thread and maybe they'll get off their ass and make it right for you...

I would look to Gt Motoring, they sold to you the kit, maybe it was pinched out of your kit there.

The kit came directly from Greddy in Irvine, CA. So, GT Motoring had nothing to do with it.
